Software Libre para mejorar el mundo
Leo en Barrapunto que el laboratorio CERN (de donde salió esto, la web) en Ginebra ha impulsado la creación de Informaticiens Sans Frontières (Informáticos sin Fronteras). Un extracto del manifiesto:
...10% of mankind has jumped into the future leaving behind the rest of it, still bound to a rural state, and now incapable to overcome this diversity, which we call “The Digital Divide”. Suddenly we realise that this barrier has created differences that can only but increase poverty, starvation, diseases within that part of mankind which was never given a chance. Some of us try to take a step back, and give our brothers a hand jump the gap, but it’s not an easy task.
Su sub-proyecto LIFE (Linux Integrated Free Environment) pretende modificar un Linux para crear un entorno accesible y por supuesto, sin los límites del software cerrado.
Parece una bonita iniciativa que ojalá cuaje y haga muchas cosas por África y América Latina. Y a ver en qué se puede colaborar.
Había yo oído hablar algo de ellos o de gente que hacía labores similares. Aunque no lo tengo muy claro, porque siguiendo la moda, ahora sólo veo documentales de la bbc y no leo prensa por higiene mental. ;)
